DR. Nusirat Elelu

Dr. Nusirat Elelu is a distinguished scholar, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Maiduguri, who furthered her academic pursuit by earning a PhD from the prestigious University of Bristol (UK). Specializing as a field epidemiologist, she delves into the intricate realms of vector-borne pathogens, particularly those threatening public health in Africa.

Dr. Elelu's intellectual contributions transcend academia; she has significantly impacted various nations, notably Africa, through her expertise. Transitioning to the realm of education, Dr. Elelu lectured on Veterinary Public Health at the University of Ilorin, where she currently holds the position of Associate Professor. In 2020, her leadership ascended when appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, steering groundbreaking initiatives targeting maternal and child health. Her strategic foresight was evident during the COVID-19 crisis, orchestrating successful vaccination campaigns and advocating for community engagement.

Embodying a tireless spirit, Dr. Elelu spearheaded transformative campaigns against diseases like polio and neonatal tetanus. Her commitment to gender equality and healthcare equity shines through her mentorship of young female students and involvement in initiatives like the One Health Initiative, pioneering advancements in medical disciplines across Africa.
